Primary Care Networks offer a number of classes to help you meet your health goals. Classes are offered virtually, in person or on-demand. Some require a referral from a family doctor, while others do not. All are free to register.
The classes below are offered by one of the eight PCNs in the Edmonton Zone. You will have to contact the PCN offering the class to register.
Virtual groups are held via Zoom, an online platform that can be accessed from your smartphone, tablet or desktop.
Some of the topics covered in this introductory class are the effects of inactivity, proper standing and sitting mechanics, physical activity guidelines and SMART goal setting.
This interactive program helps adolescents identify the symptoms related to anxiety and teaches them ways to cope using physical movement, nutrition, and practical strategies to challenge anxious thoughts.
This program is for teens 13-17 years of age. The first evening is a MANDATORY parent information night where one or both parents will accompany their child(ren) to the program. The remaining five weeks is for the teens only, no parents.

This interactive program helps parents and children identify the symptoms related to anxiety and teaches them ways to cope using physical movement, nutrition, and practical strategies to challenge anxious thoughts.
This class is for children 6-12 years of age. A parent, or both parents MUST attend along with their child(ren) for the full six-week duration of the program. (Parents can alternate attendance i.e. mom can come one week and dad the next etc).

In this class, you will learn skills that will help you to respond to your emotions rather than react to them. The facilitators will help you understand the relationship between emotions, thoughts, and behaviours. There will also be practical learnings for: emotional regulation, coping skills, mindfulness, and relationship skills.
Developed using the principles of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, participants will be shown techniques to practice at home in between classes.

Looking to incorporate healthy eating into your life? In this online class, you’ll learn about effective healthy eating strategies for general health and for a variety of health conditions – from diabetes to weight management to high cholesterol.
Topics include: balanced meals and appropriate portion sizes, meal and snack patterning, fibre, sugar and sodium, hunger and fullness signals, and SMART goal setting.
This two hour class gives you information on how healthy eating can manage blood sugars. You will learn how to balance different types of food to help manage blood sugars.
