Consulting Psychiatry

In any given year, one in five people in Canada experiences a mental health problem or illness and these issues can be difficult to work through. The Consulting Psychiatrists at the PCN will see referred patients to help confirm and explain a diagnosis or review what kinds of medications might work best for you. They will advise your family physician on next steps in ensuring you are on the right path towards optimal mental health.

What to expect?

The Psychiatrist will ask you about the problem that has brought you to see them. They may also ask about anything that has happened in your life, your thoughts and feelings and your physical health. This is so that he or she can get a thorough understanding of your situation and work with you on developing a plan for next steps.
